About UNIC Espresso machines

UNIC Espresso machines are very durable and reliable  machines. If you have purchased a used machine without a user's manual or spare parts manual, you should order one first thing. These machines have practically no service support available due to strict control on dissemination of information.

The manuals are available from Services Unlimited, Inc. Before you place an order for parts, take a few minutes first review the manuals to properly identify the model. Select the correct part number from the spare parts diagrams. Some select exploded parts diagrams are included on this web site. The correct identification of electronic parts is very important. To order parts or for technical inquiries please e-mail granita@rcn.com att: Edward.

There are following distinct UNIC model upgrades, based on the year of manufacture:

Category-1 = Models manufactured in 1997 or earlier.

Category-2 = Models manufactured in or after 1997.

Category-3 = Models introduced in 2004.

When a used UNIC espresso machine is purchased, please determine the exact type of its model. Before operating the machine make sure to  read the manual for installation and operating instructions. If manual was not received with the machine, order one from Services Unlimited, Inc. For convenience, Manuals can be Ordered on line from our secure web site https://www.shop.partsguru.com

The following models from each category are discussed:

UNIC 1997 or earlier MODELS

1- Diva/Torino - A traditional espresso machine available in one, two and three group sizes. It uses Coffee beans . Each group has an electronic fill box and a separate touch pad for espresso dose programming.

Torino is a Diva espresso machine with a modification in its group head. Almost all parts are interchangeable with identical model Diva.

2- Phoenix -  Phoenix model is a Diva espresso machine in which the filter holding ring has been replaced with a modified ring. The modified group head and filter holder restrict this model for use of specific Coffee pods only. Some older models (1997 and older) have flowmeters and others did not have flowmeters. Accordingly the Electronic fill boxes are different. Phoenix machines have specific Oscillating pumps installed 70 watt coils and pressure regulator. These pumps operate only when connected to city water line.

Conversion kits are available to change the filter holder ring to accept traditional Italian coffee filter holders. (conversion kit part # ID116).

Vibrating pump is as good as a vane rotary pump and generates the same pressure (10 to 14 Bar) for extracting espresso drinks.

The Electronic filling boxes are same as in all 110V Diva & Phoenix models (part # DV-42X). For 220V models the part # is DV-02X.

There are two different models within the old Phoenix line of machines.

The Coffee timer (Dose) touch pad for Phoenix models with a flowmeter is different from models without flowmeter. Identification for selection of part is shown in the table below.

Important note: To order electronic control boxes, please use the table below to identify the part numbers and voltage correctly. The Electronic refill and control boxes are not returnable.

3- Model XI- This model operates with halo sensor installed in the group head. Three to four small magnet bars are mounted in a housing attached to the portafilter. These magnets activate the espressso cycle immediately as the portafilter is locked into place. The position of magnets inside the housing determines the size of espresso - single or double shot.

When the filter holder is locked in position, the sensor recongnizes the position of the magnet bars and activates the solenoid valve and the pump to dispense the dose of espresso. It eliminates the need for manual selection of espresso dose.

UNIC 1997 or later Models

In the year 1997, all of the UNIC models were redesigned with improved electronic control boxes and introduced as UNIC Phoenix Pro and Diva PRO models. Pro models combine the autofill control and Coffee touch pad, in one single Electronic control Box. The part identification is following:

Part # 45006 d2 - 110V with one & two small cups selection + one & two large cups selection buttons.

Part # 45007 d3 - 110V with One, two & three cup selection buttons.
